Down The Way
By Angus & Julia Stone
Much more polished than their earlier album "A Book Like This", Down The Way is the brother & sister duos first real commercial foray. A range of songs telling a range of stories, I find listening to this album a pleasure.
Mad Men
A glimpse into the advertising world in New York in the 1960s. Great set design, good character evolution, and some quirks that become quite amusing viewed 40+ years later.
As it has progressed there are some very dark stories around Don Draper, one of the central characters, and I feel the focus has shifted a little from advertising to the complex lives these guys live.
Still, worthwhile and highly recommended.
Breaking Bad
Pretty dark, but it is wonderfully written and the acting is great. It's a pity the first season got cut short by the writers strike, however the subsequent seasons have made up for it.
In a refreshing diversion from typical American TV shows, each season is only 13 episodes long rather than lasting half a year or more.
