Yankee Hotel Foxtrot
By Wilco
Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is a great album. Lots of simple songs with catchy melodies and lyrics. What really stands out is the instrumentation. Another strong album from start to finish. This album has quickly become one of my favourites.
The Suburbs
By Arcade Fire
From the outset this album is a smack in the ear full of luscious melodies and great arrangements. With straight up rock and roll to moody epics and a healthy dose of pop, this is what we've come to expect from Arcade Fire.
If you're already an Arcade Fire fan then you're going to love The Suburbs. If you're not, this album just might make you one.
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
By John Hughes
This movie is a classic, and rightly so. It would have to be one of my favourites.
Matthew Broderick completely makes the movie. I love the audience inclusion... even just the glances at the camera.
If you haven't ever seen this then get some friends together and watch it.
The Crane Wife
By The Decemberists
The Crane Wife has a diverse range of songs from folk to (folk) pop disco rock and has great instrumentation. It is strong from start to finish and has quickly become one of my favourites. I was going to list my favourite songs, but I'm not sure I can really leave any off.
Burn After Reading
By Cowen Brothers
I don't want to talk this movie up too much, but this is probably my favourite comedy of all time.
