The Wilderness
By Samantha Harvey
A beautifully written book that asks important questions about the extent to which our memories and experiences define us. The protagonist suffers from Alzheimers disease and we watch as his friends, family, and lovers become strangers one by one. It's quiet, nostalgic, meloncholy...
Shattered Glass
By Billy Ray
"Based on a true story" is no guarantee of a good film, but in this case it makes it all the more compelling. The cynic in me loved this.
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
By John Hughes
How did I not see this film until now? I love it how everyone loves Ferris. I love it how Ferris anticipates everything and gets away with everything. I love the weird montage scenes and the cheesy musical feel-good float scene. I love the asides to the camera, particularly when it's just an expression appealing for understanding.
I was, however, left wondering what became of Ferris's friend...
I wonder, did Matthew Broderick ever star in a better film?
The Road
By Cormac McCarthy
Beautiful and heartbreaking. In some respects, the book is more cinematic than the film.
