By Josep Montalat

Neuromancer

By William Gibson

Just like "Lord of the Ring" laid the foundations for the heroic fantasy realms, roleplaying games etc ...This book laid the foundations of what is called cyberpunk movement.

Not so distant future, damaged environment, almighty corporations protecting their financial interests and true rulers of the world, conspiracy, the omnipresent Place of technology in our societies. the Internet.

I could recommend virtually all of his books.

Hoot

By Carl Hiaasen

I found this book to be wildly entertaining. The characters were fully developed and interesting and they continued to get themselves into sticky situations as they tried to stop the building of a pancake house on land inhabited by endangered owls.

The Art of Travel

By Alain de Botton

Alain de Botton's considerations on travel are a must-read for any restless traveler. He deconstructs the act of traveling, investigating its reasons and suggesting ways to improve the activity based on psychological and philosophical grounds. His easy writing style is really a pleasure, considering how dense and theoretical his approach is. Like in "How Proust Can Change Your Life", he analyzes the craft of artists and apply it to practical experiences, for a happier and more mindful life.
